At the beginning of January 2009 we introduced a new programme, here in Bromley,
which we are calling ‘The Bridge’

The purpose of ‘The Bridge' is to create a network of support, for international development and poverty alleviation projects and also community based programmes in the UK.

Calling the support network ‘the bridge’ evokes various images and implies a variety of options for working together.  A bridge connects people and situations, which would normally be isolated or apart.  It can imply a system of two-way traffic, which in the context of ‘The Bridge’ should increase our awareness and links with those we are able to support.  This should limit any kind of ‘us and them’ relationships developing, as we would see this as a means of meeting on common ground.
